Assay Laboratory Technician

We are seeking Assay Laboratory Technicians to join our Mill Assay Lab department at Rosebel Gold Mines. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely analysis of samples while maintaining compliance with safety regulations. This role requires strong technical skills and a commitment to quality control. The Assay Laboratory Technician closely works with Senior Lab Technicians to discuss workload and client priorities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Analysis of metallurgical, environmental, and geology samples using various methods.

• Utilizing AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy), IC (Ion Chromatography), Total and WAD Cyanide, and LECO (Carbon/Sulfur Analyzer).

• Accurately collecting and reporting results using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).

• Safe handling of various chemical reagents.

• Ensuring great attention to detail and maintaining QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) standards.

• Prioritizing samples based on importance and urgency.

• Conducting inventory control of chemicals and laboratory supplies.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A technical diploma in Chemistry or equivalent experience.

• Basic computer skills, including MS Office.

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a mining or commercial laboratory (preferred).

• Experience in operating and troubleshooting IC, ICP, or AA instruments (preferred).

• Proficiency in wet laboratory techniques, including pipetting, solution preparation, and dilutions (required).

• Familiarity with chemicals and laboratory procedures (preferred).

• Good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English; Mandarin is an asset.

• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days on-site at the mine in Brokopondo, followed by 7 days off.
