Drill & Blast Supervisor

We are seeking a skilled Drill & Blast Supervisor to join our Mine Operations department at Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. As the Drill & Blast Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating drilling and blasting activities to ensure efficient and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily Drill & Blast activities, ensuring safe and efficient execution of designs in all operating areas.

• Ensure all direct reports have the necessary equipment, personnel, skills, and safety controls to perform tasks effectively.

• Supervise the Drill & Blast helpers to meet daily operational targets.

• Manage team attendance and timekeeping.

• Report progress and any design deviations (e.g., undrilled, unloaded, or relocated holes) to the D&B Coordinator and General Foreman.

• Communicate drilling and loading sequences clearly; inspect patterns before drilling and approve clean-up.

• Direct and support drillers and blasters in their daily operations, including supervision of hot loading procedures.

• Conduct post-blast inspections and report any anomalies or misfires.

• Ensure daily and weekly explosive inventory is completed accurately.

• Coordinate stemming, organize supply of necessary materials, and execute dewatering plans as instructed.

• Uphold quality, safety, and housekeeping standards on all patterns.

• Enforce safe operating procedures and proper handling of explosives at all times.

• Provide clear operational instructions, participate in SLAM meetings, and share inspection feedback with the maintenance team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of a Secondary High School diploma (NATIN/AMTO) in Mining or a relevant field.

• Technical training – Mining/ Drill & Blast

• Common Core Certification & holder of all required blasting tickets in the related jurisdiction.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in explosives production and experience in hard rock drill and blasting, including 2 years in a supervisory role.

• 5 years of experience in mining safe practices and hazards

• Experience with DTH/rotary rigs and blasting operations are essential.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• A valid Surinamese driver’s license.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English (Mandarin is an asset).

• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days on-site followed by 7 days off at Rosebel Gold Mines in Brokopondo.
