Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. is seeking a technically proficient and motivated Electrical Engineer to lead electrical project execution, maintenance strategies, and power system improvements across our mill operations. This role directly supports operational efficiency, energy optimization, and asset reliability in a dynamic mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support power system coordination studies, short circuit analyses, and arc flash updates with external parties.

• Modify VDC power supply to improve selectivity of the main circuit breaker.

• Lead conversion of 4160V fixed-speed motors to variable frequency drives (VFDs) for the tailing pump system.

• Replace existing 4160V motor/control systems with new 480V infrastructure for compressors.

• Upgrade Process Water Pumps to 350HP units, including installation of new electrical and mechanical systems.

• Design and implement power and control systems for new mill equipment based on distribution availability.

• Develop and maintain up to date as-built electrical drawings and documentation.

• Standardize procedures and technical documentation for future internal and third-party electrical projects.

• Conduct energy efficiency evaluations and recommend cost-effective upgrades using modern technologies.

• Ensure all activities comply with IAMGOLD’s health and safety standards and intervene when safety is compromised.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

• Hands-on experience in industrial or mining electrical systems and infrastructure projects.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in high-voltage (4160V/161kV) systems.

• Proficiency in CMMS systems, Microsoft Word, and advanced Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with electrical drawing development, system design, and maintenance planning.

• A proactive, safety-first attitude and willingness to work across mine and plant environments.

• Excellent documentation and communication skills to ensure project clarity and continuity.

• Flexibility to work in areas with chemical exposure, noise, and high-voltage equipment.

• Fluent in Dutch and English. Sranan Tongo is an advantage.

• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break.
