Environmental Technician

At Rosebel Gold Mines, we are committed to responsible mining practices and environmental stewardship. We are currently seeking an Environmental Technician to join our dedicated team in the Environmental department. As an Environmental Technician, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and assessing the environmental impact of our mining operations.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Conducting regular environmental inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.
• Collecting and analyzing environmental samples, such as water, soil, and air, to assess the quality and identify any potential risks.
• Assisting in the development and implementation of environmental management plans and programs
• Monitoring and reporting on environmental performance indicators.
• Providing support in the preparation of environmental reports and permit applications.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and implement environmental improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in environmental monitoring and assessment.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• ISO 14001 Internal audit training is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and in data collection and analysis.
• Valid Surinamese driver's license.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Fluent in Dutch and English. Sranan Tongo is an advantage.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break.
