
Job description
To support the Procurement and Expediting team, we are seeking experienced Expeditors. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet operational and project requirements. The Expeditor will report to the Project Procurement Supervisor for day-to-day direction and receive functional guidance from the Procurement Superintendent.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Communication & Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between end-users, procurement, project teams, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of purchase orders (POs). Coordinate with suppliers and job sites to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth delivery schedules.
Reporting & Monitoring: Provide accurate and timely operational and project status reports. Prepare summary and performance reports as directed by the Procurement Supervisor.
Expediting & Issue Resolution: Review and monitor the expediting process to identify potential fabrication issues or shipment delays. Direct resolution or implement recovery plans as needed.
Purchase Order Management: Follow up on POs issued by Category Management Specialists and Procurement Officers to track status, ensure timely delivery, and address potential delays.
Material & Schedule Oversight: Monitor purchases of raw and subcontracted materials. Coordinate delivery schedules with suppliers to meet production timelines, track critical shipments, and expedite orders when required. Identify causes of delays and report findings to the Purchasing Manager and relevant Buyers.
Invoice & Compliance Handling: Resolve issues related to invoices, packing slips, and certificates of compliance as needed.
Supplier Performance & Relationship Management: Interface with suppliers to maintain performance expectations and foster strong business relationships. Measure and evaluate supplier performance using metrics such as on-time shipment and quality (including NCRs), and prepare corresponding reports.
Job requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of a High School diploma (HAVO/VWO or IMEAO);
At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role;
Experience with Oracle Purchasing Module or a similar integrated system;
Proven experience in the procurement of goods and services within a multinational environment;
General knowledge of computerized purchase order systems, with Oracle or SAP ERP preferred;
Willingness to work at our Brokopondo mine site on a rotational schedule (5 days on, 2 days off);
A valid ID and proof of good conduct (“Bewijs van goed gedrag”);
Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both Dutch and English.
