Geo Technician

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Logging professional to join the Mine – Exploration Department. The successful candidate will perform geotechnical logging of drilled diamond core by accurately measuring, recording, and documenting core characteristics and processing the collected data using the LogChief program.

Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Precisely conduct geotechnical measurements on drilled core, including Recovery, Hardness, Weathering, and RQD, while verifying core depth, meter marks, and orientation.

2. Consistently record, process, synchronize, and maintain geotechnical data using the LogChief program, ensuring accurate daily production records and data backups.

3. Carefully prepare and organize core boxes by marking depth intervals, validating box information, and identifying and marking quartz veins.

4. Safely handle and transport core boxes and samples while complying with Rosebel Gold Mines’ Code of Conduct, values, Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

5. Efficiently support Exploration activities, including field operations, sample transportation, core splitting, housekeeping, and other assigned duties to ensure departmental objectives are achieved safely and on time.

The ideal candidate will have:

• MULO, LBO, LTS diploma or equivalent qualification.

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in mining, exploration, geotechnical logging, core processing, or a related field.

• Basic computer skills, with the ability to learn and use specialized programs such as LogChief.

• Ability to read and write effectively in both Dutch and English.

• Basic knowledge of diamond drill core handling, geotechnical measurements, and core logging procedures is preferred.

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and record-keeping skills.

• Ability to learn quickly and understand and apply new ideas, procedures, and instructions.

• Willingness to work in Brokopondo on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break

• Good communication and interpersonal skills in Dutch and English.

• If selected, you will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (“Bewijs van Goed Gedrag”). Please initiate the request at your respective District Commissariat.
