Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic

Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. is seeking skilled Mechanics to join our Mine Maintenance team. As a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and operational capability of a wide range of heavy-duty equipment used in mining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret technical diagrams and manuals to carry out inspections, diagnose, and repair mechanical or electrical defects on equipment using appropriate tools and instruments.

• Perform oil changes and routine preventive maintenance (P.M.) on equipment, including oil level checks and system inspections, according to job plans and schedules.

• Conduct major and minor repairs on heavy equipment, including transmission, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, compressors, and structural components, to maintain equipment availability.

• Rebuild and install components for various types of equipment.

• Perform minor welding and oxyacetylene cutting as required.

• Conduct repairs on 12- and 24-Volt electrical systems.

• Recommend alternative repair methods and suggest improvements to increase component life and performance.

• Maintain tools and ensure work areas are clean, organized, and safe.

• Complete accurate documentation of maintenance activities and fill in work order details.

• Move equipment in and out of the workshop as needed.

The ideal candidate will have:

• High school diploma (NATIN Werktuigbouwkunde or Elektrotechniek).

• Completion of RGM SURMAC 18-month trainee program.

• A minimum of 5 to 8 years working experience with mobile equipment used in mining.

• Demonstrated experience with trouble shoot, engine repair, machine assembly and disassembly, and exhaust systems.

• The ability to interpret and use manufacturer's parts manuals and service manuals.

• Knowledge of using diagnostic tools and testing machine performance and system modifications.

• Experienced in the use of CAT Service Information System and CAT Electronic Technician.

• Valid Suriname driver's license.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English, Mandarin language is an asset.

• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break.
