Metlab Technician

The MetLab Technician supports the metallurgical team by organizing and executing timely and accurate sampling and analysis of process streams, completing lab-scale test work, and contributing to mill performance optimization. The MetLab Technician ensures proper operation of mill process analyzers and conducts regular inspections of equipment.

Job Description

• Support the metallurgical team by collecting and preparing mill samples, performing lab test work, and analyzing process streams to optimize mill performance.

• Operate and monitor the Acacia system and gravity circuit, ensuring consistent and accurate data collection from mill processes.

• Maintain and calibrate metallurgical field analyzers and process sampling equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.

• Prepare analytical reagents and assist with reagent quality control, usage tracking, and cost-saving initiatives.

• Record and analyze data using Microsoft Excel and prepare production reports to support process improvements.

• Assist in the implementation of metallurgical changes and train plant operators on best practices and safety compliance.

• Identify safety and environmental hazards, maintaining a clean and contamination-free work area in line with OHS&E standards.

The ideal candidate will have:

1. Higher Secondary Education: NATIN/AMTO – Chemical Analyst or Mine Engineering, with 2–5 years of related experience.

2. Strong understanding of optimizing mill throughput and recovery, with working knowledge of milling methods and procedures.

3. Experience in a gold processing plant is considered an asset.

4. Proficiency in computer applications and metallurgical software.

5. Good observational, analytical, and reporting skills with the ability to work both independently and in a team setting.

6. Good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English; Mandarin is an asset.

7. Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days on-site at the mine in Brokopondo, followed by 7 days off.
