Maintenance Welding Supervisor

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Welding Supervisor to join our Mine Maintenance department at Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. This role will be responsible for overseeing welding operations, ensuring quality standards are met, and leading a team of welding technicians.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supervise and coordinate welding activities in the maintenance department

• Train and mentor welding technicians to improve skills and performance

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

• Inspect welding work to maintain high quality standards

• Collaborate with maintenance team to prioritize and schedule welding projects

• Manage and support the maintenance team, including hiring, training, and setting clear work objectives.

• Ensure the team has the necessary training, tools, and equipment to perform work safely and efficiently.

• Monitor team performance, conduct job observations, and provide coaching to improve productivity.

• Handle time entry, vacation requests, scheduling, and arrange relief equipment during equipment failures.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of a Secondary High School diploma (NATIN/AMTO) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in welding and maintenance, including 2 years in a supervisory role.

• Proven experience in supervising a team of maintenance welders.

• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

• Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a mining environment; ISO 45001 welding certification is a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• A valid Surinamese driver’s license.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English (Mandarin is an asset).

• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days on-site followed by 7 days off at Rosebel Gold Mines in Brokopondo.
