Core Shack Splitter

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Core Shack Splitter to join the Mine – Exploration Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for sampling logged diamond drill core, splitting and preparing RC samples for laboratory analysis, and supporting the Exploration team with various sampling activities. The role requires accurate sample handling, proper use of core shack equipment, including the core splitter, and adherence to established sampling, quality control, safety, and environmental procedures.

Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Professionally uphold the company’s Code of Conduct, values, and principles, while ensuring all assigned Exploration activities are performed with integrity and accountability.

2. Safely carry out diamond drill core splitting and RC sample preparation in accordance with established standards, while strictly adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.

3. Accurately weigh, register, sieve, and prepare RC samples for logging, ensuring representative samples are placed in chip trays and sample blanks are correctly inserted.

4. Systematically prepare, label, pack, and secure RC and diamond drill samples for laboratory submission, while ensuring remaining samples are properly stored and maintained.

5. Effectively maintain the Core Shack, sampling equipment, and work areas, while supporting Exploration field activities and completing other duties as required to meet departmental objectives safely, efficiently, and on time.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Must be able to read and write effectively in both Dutch and English.

• At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in exploration, core sampling, mining, or a geological environment.

• Basic knowledge of diamond drill core and RC sample preparation, sampling procedures, and basic QA/QC requirements.

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to work safely and effectively with core-splitting equipment, follow sampling standards and procedures, and work both independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to learn quickly and perform duties effectively within the scope of the qualifications, training, and responsibilities outlined for the position.

• Willingness to work in Brokopondo on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break

• Good communication and interpersonal skills in Dutch and English.

• If selected, you will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (“Bewijs van Goed Gedrag”). Please initiate the request at your respective District Commissariat.
