Emergency Response Team Lead

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Occupational Health & Safety department as an Emergency Response Team Lead at Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. In this role, you will be responsible for leading our emergency response team in handling critical situations and ensuring the safety of our employees.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and coordinate emergency response drills and training sessions to enhance team readiness.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans to address various scenarios effectively.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards to maintain a secure work environment.
• Advise on fire safety risks and oversee activities to mitigate potential hazards.
• Recruit, select, and evaluate team members to build a skilled and motivated workforce.
• Coordinate activities for adequate emergency preparedness at the mine site for prompt responses.
• Act as Incident Command during emergencies, leading the execution of response plans.
• Organize and maintain training programs and mock exercises to enhance overall emergency preparedness.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Minimum a Secondary High school diploma (NATIN/AMTO) Mining or relevant degree.
• M5-10-year experience in firefighting/ emergency response or related experience in a similar position including Minimum of 5 years previous Incident Commander experience
• Certification in NFPA 1081 Fire Fighting and Industrial Rescue, HAZMAT trained AND First Responder certification
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid Suriname Drivers’ license.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English, Mandarin language is an asset.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break.
