Field Technician

The Field Technician supports geological exploration by coordinating Diamond and RC drilling activities, including drill-pad preparation, hole spotting, rig alignment, and downhole surveys using Reflex/Gyro and high-precision Leica GPS. The role ensures compliance with ISO 14001 requirements and safe work practices while supervising dozer operators and coordinating field logistics, equipment, fuel, and road maintenance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Coordinates and monitors Diamond and RC drilling activities, including drill-rig setup and alignment, downhole surveying, sample recovery, and the daily transportation of samples and core boxes to the Core shack.

2. Accurately identifies and localizes drill-hole locations using maps, compasses, hand-held GPS, high-precision Leica GPS, and other field equipment, while completing and verifying collar and downhole survey data.

3. Effectively delegates and monitors the activities of Dozer and Excavator operators involved in drill-pad construction, drill-rig movements, and road construction and maintenance.

4. Strictly ensures compliance with Rosebel Gold Mines’ Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements, including ISO 14001 procedures, pre-drill pad inspections, daily drill inspections, JHAs, vehicle safety, and measures to minimize environmental impact.

5. Thoroughly reports and communicates field activities and technical information to the Senior Field Technician and Senior/Exploration Geologist, while supporting RC grade-control drilling, Core shack activities, geological mapping, grab sampling, auguring, pit testing, and other geochemical exploration activities as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

• NATIN diploma with a Mining orientation, or an equivalent high school diploma.

• At least 1–2 years of relevant field experience, preferably in mining, exploration, drilling, or a related field.

• Basic knowledge of drilling activities, field sampling, downhole surveying, and exploration procedures.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently in the field and effectively as part of a team, while prioritizing tasks, coordinating activities, and working with employees at all levels of the organization.

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Willingness to work in Brokopondo on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break

• Good communication and interpersonal skills in Dutch and English.

• If selected, you will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (“Bewijs van Goed Gedrag”). Please initiate the request at your respective District Commissariat.
