Job description

We are seeking for skilled Mechanics to join our Mine Maintenance team at Rosebel Gold Mines N.V.

  • As a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy-duty equipment used in mining operations. Your primary duties will include servicing, repairing mobile equipment such as power light plants, generators, pumps, heavy earth moving equipment, and utility type equipment to maintain the operational capability of the respective equipment.


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Use diagrams and manuals to diagnose and repair equipment components and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes and system checks, following job plans.
  • Perform major and minor repairs on transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors, and structural parts.
  • Rebuild and install equipment components as needed.
  • Carry out minor welding, oxyacetylene cutting, and repairs on 12- and 24-Volt electrical systems.
  • Recommend alternative repair methods and improvements to extend equipment life.
  • Maintain tools and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Document all maintenance work and accurately complete work order details.
  • Move equipment in and out of the workshop as needed.


    • Job requirements

    • Education & Training: High school diploma (NATIN Werktuigbouwkunde or Elektrotechniek) and completion of the RGM SURMAC 18-month trainee program.
    • Experience: 5-8 years of hands-on experience with mobile mining equipment, including troubleshooting, engine repair, assembly, disassembly, and exhaust systems.
    • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and using parts and service manuals, diagnostic tools, and testing machine performance. Experience with CAT Service Information System and CAT Electronic Technician is a plus.
    • Licenses: Valid Suriname driver’s license.
    • Communication Skills: Strong written and spoken skills in Dutch and English; Mandarin is an asset.
    • Availability: Able to work on a 14-days-on, 7-days-off rotational schedule.
