Heavy Duty Mechanic

At Rosebel Gold Mines, we are committed to responsible practices and ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient mining operations. We are currently seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Mine Maintenance team. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy mining equipment and vehicles, ensuring maximum equipment availability and performance.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults on heavy mining equipment and performing timely and effective repairs.

• Performing routine maintenance, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.

• Troubleshooting complex multi-system issues and identifying root causes to minimize equipment downtime.

• Repairing or replacing defective components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical parts.

• Completing accurate maintenance reports, work orders, and documentation of all work performed.

• Adhering strictly to safety standards and procedures while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Technical Diploma or Secondary School Certificate in Heavy Equipment Mechanics (or equivalent qualification).

• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in maintenance or mining environments, with strong hands-on experience on heavy Caterpillar mining equipment.

• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems used in heavy mining machinery.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex multi-system failures, including PLC-controlled systems, and accurately identify root causes.

• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.

• Experience using Caterpillar diagnostic tools such as SIS, HICS, and ET to perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance independently.

• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 28 days on and 14 days off in a mining environment.
