Junior Ground Control Engineer

We are seeking a Junior Ground Control Engineer to join the Mine Technical Services department at Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. This role involves conducting daily ground control activities related to open pit and waste dump stability, focusing on geotechnical and hydrogeological criteria, while ensuring adherence to RGM safety standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Engineering:

• Assist the GC Engineer with surface water infrastructure designs as needed.

• Monitor and follow up on surface water projects in and around pits as required.

• Gather field data (e.g., piezometer/well readings) and update the relevant database as needed.

• Perform geotechnical and structural mapping, collecting field data for database updates on a quarterly basis.

• Contribute to and support geotechnical/hydrogeological projects aimed at improving stability conditions in pits and waste dumps as required.

Operations:

• Attend and present on geotechnical, hydrological, or dewatering conditions at operational meetings (daily).

• Monitor pump discharge in priority pits on a daily basis.

• Conduct post-blast inspections (daily).

• Perform pit and waste dump field inspections and generate reports (daily).

• Review and analyze geotechnical and hydrogeological monitoring data (daily).

• Manage, maintain, and inspect geotechnical/hydrological instrumentation in the field as needed.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor's degree in mining engineering, Geology, Geoscience or related field.

• Interns in Mining Engineering, Geology, and Geoscience are also encouraged to apply for this role.

• No work experience required.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and mining environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break at Rosebel Gold Mines Sites in Brokopondo.
