Senior Electrical Engineer

At Rosebel Gold Mines N.V., we are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer join our Mill Electrical department. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, the design, development, upgrade, test and monitor of all phases of Electrical Engineering projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Manage all activities related to Projects: 

• Collaborating with other members of the engineering team to design new products or improve existing products.
• Maintains and fosters contacts with consultants, contractors, vendors and material suppliers.
• Preparing detailed design drawings, work breakdown structures, detailed scope descriptions, calculating materials requirements, detailed schedules, risk management approach and developing cost estimates for projects.
• Develop and evaluate AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests.
• Produces quality engineering plans, studies and specifications while ensuring compliance with department, project, company, utility and industry requirements and standards.
• Reviewing plans for electrical equipment such as power generating stations, substations, transmission lines, transformers and switchgear to ensure compliance with safety codes.
• Maintaining records of engineering designs and drawings in an electronic database.
• Performing electrical engineering analysis and design tasks, such as determining the appropriate electrical system configuration for new facilities or identifying energy savings opportunities in existing facilities.
• Developing electrical design standards for use in projects
• Performing electrical engineering calculations to determine voltage drop or power requirements for electrical systems.
• Leads or participates in project meetings.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline degree.
• Related professional designation or certification.
  
• A minimum 10 years of related work experience in managing engineering projects. 
• Must have extensive experience dealing with renewable energy such as Hydro power stations and Solar farms.
• Extensive practical experience with CAD software.
• Working knowledge of industry standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA etc.
• Working knowledge and experience in high & medium voltage installation, electronics, PLCs and control systems.
• Project management experience.
• Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
• Skill in managing large/complex Engineering projects.
• Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written in English.
• Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a multiple skill team.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
• Good long-term vision to develop teams appropriately.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office suite.
• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 6 weeks on/ 3 weeks off, 12 hours a day.
